Good Day... Hope you are here to have some fun! This is what we are going to create today! Grab the goodies below and unzip them into your favorite "Tut" folder.

For this tutorial you need a pretty good working knowledge of PSP 7 and understand layers, gradients, copy & pasting.
Here are the supplies needed:

  • 1. PSP 7 get a 30 day trial here
  • 2. This zip file which contains the font, image and my selections
  • Lets begin!

    * whenever you see this * there will be an Important Note or extra information for you to read that will not be numbered.

Step 1. Open the font * you do not need to install it just open it and minimize it on your desk top, PSP will find it. There is much to do before we get to it, but I thought that tip might help if you are like me and have far too many fonts as it is. Move the .sels to your selection folder in PSP, if you don't have one just go into PSP Folder in your Programs and right click on the page and choose NEW > new folder, name it Selections. Back to PSP work station --

Step 2. Open your image in PSP and Shift + D to duplicate and close your original.

Step 3. Open a new image, transparent background 300 x 40. This is going to be your color palette. Set your paint brush tool like this

Now, using your dropper, choose 2 colors from your image a light and a dark, grab your paint brush and place those two colors on your empty canvas. Continue this until you have about 6 or 7 combinations, you will not be using all of these but it gives you a birds eye view of the colors you can choose from in your creating. Save this image in your special tag folder in psp format. It will look something like this:

    * use this step if you are using a different image than the one supplied * Open another new image 400 x 500, lots of room to work. The image supplied is perfect for the selections, and you can use them with others but you must have a border around your image so that it measures no smaller than 374 x 490.

Step 4. Make your picture image active and right-click on the layer palette and "Promote to Raster Layer" on the drop-down layer menu, if you like to name your layers name this one Frame 1. Again right-click on the layer palette and duplicate Frame 1 name it Frame 2 and again and name the third one Frame 3.

Step 5. Go to Selections and "Load From Disk" to choose my selection nefre1 . sel. Click OK. You should have something that looks like this:

Step 6. With your dropper, choose 1 light color and 1 dark color from your color chart that you made at the beginning. It doesn't matter whether they are foreground or background. Make the dark color your gradient with these settings:
